Knowledge Connect

Knowledge Connect was a pan-London, London Development Agency (LDA) and ERDF funded innovation support programme to assist small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) undertake innovation led, collaborative projects with the wider academic knowledgebase, with a focus on enterprises that have not previously worked with specialists from this sector.

This flagship Innovation Voucher Programme, a core part of the LDA’s Solutions for Business portfolio, was established to raise the performance and aspirations of London’s businesses by providing effective support for innovation, knowledge transfer and research and development across a broad range of sectors including food and drink, engineering and fashion.

ANGLE experts provide a combination of 1-2-1 business growth mentoring, academic specialist identification and collaboration brokering together with innovation exploitation support to enable SMEs to address business growth opportunities. The programme engaged with over 3,000 SMEs across London and supported over 250 SME/knowledgebase collaborative projects with 32 institutions, awarding more than £1.8 million of innovation vouchers. The programme created and safeguarded over 90 jobs and has stimulated R&D spend of £2 million and a GVA increase of over £3 million within the programme period (2008 – 2011) in very challenging economic conditions.
