ANGLE has successfully proven the Parsortix separation device's ability to capture cancer cells added to healthy blood (spiked blood) for breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer and colon cancer cells.
This has been followed by successful capture of prostate cancer CTCs from initial separations of patient blood.
Collaborations have been agreed with leading Cancer Research Centres, The University of Surrey Oncology department and the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research.
The next major milestone is the optimisation of the separation cassette to allow faster flow of a larger volume of blood with the intention of enabling CTCs to be efficiently captured on a routine basis from cancer patient blood samples.
