ANGLE’s liquid biopsy technologies have the potential to help clinicians select the most appropriate drugs and therapies for an individual patient. As such, our technologies support the development of Precision Medicine.

ANGLE is collaborating with world leading cancer research institutions, such as MD Anderson and the University of Southern California in North America, and CRUK-Manchester and UKE-Hamburg in Europe. The Parsortix system and consumables are being sold in Europe and North America to leading cancer research groups. More than 35 peer reviewed publications (including from Nature and Cell) highlight the insight that can be gained from a simple blood draw about a patient’s cancer.

ANGLE has recently opened GCLP compliant labs in Guildford (UK) and Philadelphia (USA) to provide the pharmaceutical industry with a send-away service for the analysis of CTCs in patient samples from clinical trials. Furthermore, ANGLE R&D labs will provide custom development of CTC assays for pharma – which can then be transferred into the GCLP labs.

We are currently looking for a Clinical Scientist/Phlebotomist. The Clinical Scientist/Phlebotomist works in the clinical laboratory performing biological sample testing and analysis including performing all quality requirements for the testing such as quality control and regulatory compliance.
This position also involves performing phlebotomy services for the collection of healthy volunteer subjects for in-house assay development, validation, and quality control. The role includes interaction with customers, healthy volunteers, and other departments within ANGLE. The individual report to the Head of Clinical Laboratories and collaborates as required with specified project managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage healthy normal volunteer (HNV) blood donor recruitment in accordance with company’s ethically approved procedure, including booking and logging appointments for blood donors
  • Meet and greet donors and ensure accurate completion of donor questionnaires
  • Liaise with scientists and R&D managers to arrange appointments of HNV blood donors for blood draw
  • Obtain blood specimens by performing venipunctures of HNV donors
  • Maintain specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following company’s procedures
  • Track collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection and maintaining daily tallies of collections performed
  • Process clinical samples for Immunofluorescent microscopy and for molecular testing
  • Support where required, general stock keeping, ordering of goods, and by contributing to laboratory record management
  • Undertake additional ad hoc / project work as required
  • Perform such other duties and responsibilities that are consistent with the role of a Clinical Scientist 1I or as may be assigned from time to time.

Required Experience, Education and Knowledge:

  • A.S or B.S. in Laboratory or Medical Technology OR an equivalent combination of commercial experience and formal education
  • Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy experience combined with a minimum of 5 years of clinical laboratory experience
  • Working knowledge of appropriate regulatory requirements (e.g. cGCLP, ISO, CLIA, OSHA, HAZCOM)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
