In 2021 we opened GCLP compliant clinical laboratories in Guildford (UK) and Philadelphia (USA) to provide “pharma services” for cancer drug trials and, once the labs are accredited, laboratory developed tests (LDTs) for patient management. The pharma services business offers dynamic analysis of patient condition before, during and after the patient receives the drug, assessing both CTCs and CTC clusters recovered from a simple blood test. We are also pursuing an FDA product clearance for the Parsortix system and have submitted a full De Novo submission, which is currently in substantive review with FDA.

This is an exciting time at ANGLE and our research and development facilities in Guildford, UK are looking for a Product Support Engineer specialising in providing field support.

You will be a Product Support Engineer who can apply hands-on experience of mechanical, fluidic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic components.

This important position, will undertake work that requires comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance and technical support service for the company’s circulating cell isolation products in our own facilities (and at customer premises on an exceptional basis).

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To contribute on the updating of engineering service instructions/procedures from technical perspective and practice.
  • To assist the company’s Product & Technology Development Group in maintaining and developing the company’s circulating cell isolation products.
  • Report to designated line manager but collaborate as instructed with specified project managers in individual projects and activities.
  • Carry out designated technical activities, including technical investigation, routine updating and maintenance of cell separation machines in the laboratory (and in the field on an exceptional basis).
  • Provide technical support in-house including diagnosing and rectifying causes of instrument failure.
  • Utilise the company’s customer relationship management (CRM) system to log and respond to technical support queries.
  • To work with the product & technology development team and manufacturing team to further improve product functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Maintain and upgrade factory and application acceptance tests.
  • Support the company’s scientists in laboratory management, including maintaining standard operating procedure records.
  • To help on training to colleagues and collaborators on detailed engineering service and maintenance of company’s products.
  • Adopt a flexible approach to the requirements of the job.
  • Undertake additional ad-hoc tasks as required.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Attributes:

  • Technical qualification to HND or Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Biomedical engineering.
  • Background as a field support engineer or field service engineer (or equivalent job role).
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, fluidic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic components, preferably in systems of lab bench or desk size.
  • It is desirable to have or be familiar with:
    ➢ Biotechnology experience (Medical Devices, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutics).
    ➢ Training in laboratory environment.
    ➢ Data analysis capabilities.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office suite (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Good organization skills, ensuring deadlines and expectations are meant, with the ability to manage own workload with minimal supervision whilst maintaining flexibility in job role.
  • Good written and verbal communication and coordination skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Commitment and self-motivation to providing outstanding customer service.
  • Possess a flexible, can-do approach to the requirements of the job.
  • Due to nature of role, the requirement is for Guildford based, office hours and 5 days per week. There may be an exceptional requirement to work at customer premises, which may require occasional overnight stays away from home.
