This is an exciting time at ANGLE and our team in Guildford are looking for a Senior Laboratory Operations Technician to contribute to the smooth running of the laboratory, providing support to our scientific team.

Principal Accountabilities:
- Responsible for quality and regulatory compliance of work undertaken and aiding the Laboratory Manager in monitoring laboratory document quality, highlighting any found issues
- Conducting COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) risk assessments based on Material Safety Data Sheets and any additional information provided, ensuring to update assessments regularly when required. Releasing reagents to the lab upon arrival, dependant on the COSHH status
- Support in document writing; updating and reviewing current SOP’s and WI’s procedures and writing new procedures
- Contribute to the smooth running of laboratory facility; cleaning laboratory/equipment as required, completing stock checks and processing order to ensure all required stock is maintained at the correct levels
- Obtaining and downloading relevant Certificate of Analysis/Certificate of conformity or equivalent for reagents from suppliers or manufacturers when required. Ensuring relevant expire dates are applied on reagents where applicable
- Formulating buffers and preparing various reagents for the laboratory, ensuring appropriate documents are filled in correctly and prepared reagents are labelled correctly
- Handle hazardous materials, reagents, and chemicals in a safe manner in accordance with laboratory policy and procedures
- Ensuring all consumables and reagents are labelled correctly in accordance with the laboratory Quality Management System (QMS)
- Arranging for equipment to be calibrated and/or serviced only when support is required within the team. Remaining a back-up for supporting the correct management of defective instruments, including carrying out instrument acceptance tests and maintaining associated records within the laboratory QMS. Ensuring equipment is labelled correctly in accordance with laboratory QMS when needed
- Work in accordance with laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), ensuring adherence to Health and Safety standards in the laboratory areas, as well as other laboratory standards
- Supporting the Laboratory Manager in the training and supervision of other staff
- Undertake additional ad-hoc tasks as required
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Attributes:
- ‘A’ Levels and 2 years of relevant laboratory experience or BSc in a relevant subject
- Experience of working to strict quality standards such as ISO9001 or preferably ISO13485 would be a significant advantage
- Organisational skills and the ability to follow agreed procedures is essential
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams and prioritize tasks in complex projects
- Manage and deliver production to agreed timetables and according to defined instructions
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills, work ethic and attention to detail
- Good report writing skills, with the ability to communicate results to technical and non-technical staff
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritise to meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment
- An eye for detail and commitment to high quality data
- Continuous learner with a keen appetite for cross-disciplinary work
- A flexible, can-do approach to the requirements of the job

The Senior Operations Technician contributes to the smooth running of laboratory, providing operations support to the wider scientific team, while working within the laboratory Management group.
